How to Edit Text in Your Template

Marlow Maison templates are designed to be simple to customize and ready to use with minimal editing. The layouts, spacing, and design choices have already been carefully created so you don’t have to build anything from scratch.

In most cases, you can simply replace the sample text with your own wording and your design will be ready to go.

Please note that some elements in certain designs may not be editable. If an element cannot be changed, this will be explained in the companion PDF included with your purchase.

If you need a change that cannot be edited within the template, you can also purchase a Style Change Ticket or a Revision Ticket to have that adjustment made for you.

This guide will show you how to quickly edit the text inside your template.

Open your Canva template and locate the text you want to change.

Click directly on the text.

Once selected, a box will appear around the text, and the text editing toolbar will appear at the top of the screen.

After selecting the text, simply start typing.

The existing words will highlight, allowing you to replace them with your own text.

For example, you might change:

Your Business Name
to
Moonlight Candle Co.

You can edit the wording just like typing in a normal document.

If your new text is longer or shorter than the original text, you may want to adjust the size.

To do this:

1. Click the text box.
2. Look at the toolbar at the top of the screen.
3. Find the font size number.
4. Increase or decrease the number until the text fits the design.

You can also resize text by dragging the corner handles of the text box.

Sometimes the text may need to be repositioned after editing.

To move text:

1. Click the text box.
2. Click and drag it to the desired position.

Canva will show helpful alignment guides that help you keep things centered and balanced.

If you want to use a different font:

1. Click the text box.
2. Click the font name in the top toolbar.
3. Choose a new font from the list.

Keep in mind that fonts are often chosen carefully in the template to match the overall design, so changing fonts may slightly change the look of the layout.

To change the color of the text:

1. Select the text box.
2. Click the color square in the top toolbar.
3. Choose a new color or paste your brand color hex code.

This is useful when adapting the design to match your brand colors.

A Helpful Beginner Tip #

If your text doesn’t seem to be editable, it may be part of a grouped element or a locked layer.

If this happens:

• Click the element.
• Look for the Unlock or Ungroup option in the toolbar.

Once unlocked, the text should become editable.

To edit text in your template, simply click the text and start typing.

Because Marlow Maison templates are designed to work right away, you often only need to replace the existing text with your own wording to make the design ready for use.

From there, you can adjust the size, move the text, change fonts, or update colors if you want to personalize the design further.

Important Tip To Remember – You cannot “break” your design! #

If you ever feel like you’ve made too many changes or want to start over, simply click your original Canva template link again. Canva will create a brand new copy of the design so you can start fresh.
