How To Change Fonts

Marlow Maison templates are designed to be ready to use with very little editing required. The fonts, spacing, and layout have already been carefully chosen so the design works beautifully as it is.

In many cases, you can simply replace the sample text and begin using the design right away without needing to change the fonts at all.

Please note that some elements in certain designs may not be editable. If a font cannot be changed in a specific part of the design, this will be explained in the companion PDF included with your purchase.

If you need something adjusted that cannot be edited within the template, you can purchase a Style Change Ticket or a Revision Ticket to have that modification made for you.

When designing Marlow Maison templates, we always use free Canva fonts. This means you can change the fonts to any other free Canva font without needing Canva Pro.

This guide will show you how to change fonts in your template.

Open your Canva template and locate the text you want to change.

Click directly on the text box.

Once selected, a box will appear around the text, and the text editing toolbar will appear at the top of the screen.

With the text selected, look at the toolbar at the top of the screen.

You will see the font name currently being used.

Click the font name to open Canva’s font selection menu.

This will display a list of available fonts.

Scroll through the list and select a new font.

Once you click a font, Canva will immediately apply it to the selected text.

Because Marlow Maison templates use free Canva fonts, you can choose any other free Canva font without needing to upgrade your account.

Some fonts are naturally larger or smaller than others.

After changing the font, you may want to adjust the size so the text fits properly in the layout.

To do this:

1. Select the text box.
2. Locate the font size number in the toolbar.
3. Increase or decrease the number until the text fits comfortably within the design.

After changing fonts, it’s a good idea to look at the design and make sure everything still feels balanced.

Sometimes a different font may require small adjustments such as:

• slightly resizing the text
• moving the text box a little
• adjusting line breaks

These small tweaks can help keep the layout looking polished.

A Helpful Beginner Tip #

Fonts play a big role in the overall style of a design. If you want to maintain the original look and feel of the template, try choosing fonts that are similar in style to the original.

For example, if the design uses an elegant serif font, choosing another serif font will usually preserve the design’s visual balance.

Marlow Maison templates are designed so that most users only need to update the text and images to make the design their own.

However, if you want to personalize the style further, you can easily change the font by selecting the text and choosing a new font from Canva’s font menu.

Because the templates use free Canva fonts, you are free to switch to any other free Canva font without needing Canva Pro.

Important Tip To Remember – You cannot “break” your design! #

If you ever feel like you’ve made too many changes or want to start over, simply click your original Canva template link again. Canva will create a brand new copy of the design so you can start fresh.
