Your First Listing #
This is the moment your shop becomes a real store.
Your listing is what customers see, click on, and buy. It includes your photos, title, description, and product details.
Don’t worry — you do not need to make it perfect right now. We’re going to walk through this step-by-step so you can confidently create your first listing.
Where to Create a Listing #
Let’s get you to the right place:
- Go to Etsy
- Click Shop Manager
- Click Listings
- Click “Add a Listing”
👉 This opens the listing editor.
What You’re Creating #
Each listing includes:
- Photos
- Title
- Description
- Price
- Product type (digital or physical)
We’ll go through each section in order.
Step 1: Add Your Photos (Most Important) #
This is the first thing customers see — and it matters the most.
What to upload: #
- Product mockups
- What’s included
- Features or highlights
- How it works
Beginner Tips: #
- Use clear, high-quality images
- Keep your style consistent
- Don’t overcrowd your images
💡 People decide to click based on your images — not your description.
Step 2: Write Your Title #
Your title helps Etsy understand what your product is.
Keep it simple: #
Use keywords your customer would search.
Example: #
“Premade Logo Kit Canva Template for Boutique Businesses”
Beginner Tips: #
- Be clear, not clever
- Don’t use full sentences
- Avoid repeating the same word too many times
Step 3: Choose Your Product Type #
You’ll select whether your item is:
Digital #
OR
Physical #
👉 Choose carefully — this changes how your listing works.
We’ll go deeper into this in the next article.
Step 4: Add Your Description #
This is where you explain your product.
Keep it simple and clear: #
Include:
- What the product is
- What’s included
- How it works
- Important details (like digital download info)
Example structure: #
- Short intro
- What’s included
- How it works
- Important notes
💡 Don’t overcomplicate — clarity is more important than sounding fancy.
Step 5: Set Your Price #
Enter how much you want to charge.
👉 Etsy will show you:
- Your profit after fees
- Your listing cost
Beginner Tips: #
- Look at similar listings for guidance
- Don’t underprice too much
- Remember: you can change pricing later
Step 6: Set Quantity #
Digital products: #
- You can leave this high (or unlimited)
Physical products: #
- Enter how many you have available
👉 Make sure this is accurate if you’re selling physical items.
Step 7: Add Files (For Digital Products) #
If your item is digital:
You’ll upload your files here.
Common setup: #
- Upload a PDF with your Canva links inside
If you’re using one of our products, your download typically includes:
- Canva access links
- Instructions
- Additional files
👉 Just upload the PDF provided.
Step 8: Publish Your Listing #
Once everything is filled out:
- Click “Publish”
🎉 Your product is now live in your shop.
Common Beginner Mistakes to Avoid #
1. Low-quality images #
Blurry images = fewer clicks.
2. Confusing titles #
If customers don’t understand it, they won’t click.
3. Skipping the description #
This leads to questions and confusion.
4. Forgetting digital disclaimers #
Always mention if it’s a digital product.
5. Trying to be perfect #
Your first listing does not need to be flawless.

Before moving on:
