How to Move and Resize Elements

Marlow Maison templates are designed to be ready to use with very little editing required. The layouts, spacing, and styling have already been carefully created so the design works beautifully as it is.

In many cases, you can simply replace the sample text and begin using the design immediately without needing to adjust the layout.

Please note that some elements in certain designs may not be editable or movable. If an element cannot be changed, this will be explained in the companion PDF included with your purchase.

If you need something adjusted that cannot be edited within the template, you can purchase a Style Change Ticket or a Revision Ticket to have that modification made for you.

This guide will show you how to move and resize elements within your Canva template.

First, click the element you want to move or resize.

This could include:

• text boxes
• shapes
• icons
• images
• decorative elements

Once selected, a box will appear around the element showing its boundaries.

To move an element:

1. Click and hold the element.
2. Drag it to the new location on the page.
3. Release your mouse when it is positioned where you want it.

As you move elements, Canva may show alignment guides (thin lines) that help you keep things centered or aligned with other elements.

To resize an element:

1. Click the element to select it.
2. Look for the small circles or handles on the corners of the selection box.
3. Click and drag one of the corner handles to make the element larger or smaller.

Dragging from the corner keeps the element’s proportions consistent.

Avoid dragging from the side handles unless you intentionally want to stretch the element.

If you want to rotate an element:

1. Click the element.
2. Look for the rotate handle (usually a circular arrow icon).
3. Drag the handle left or right to rotate the object.

This can be helpful for adjusting decorative elements or design accents.

A Helpful Beginner Tip #

If you accidentally move something out of place, you can quickly undo the action.

Press Undo at the top of the Canva editor or use the keyboard shortcut:

Ctrl + Z (Windows)
Command + Z (Mac)

This will return the element to its previous position.

Marlow Maison templates are designed so that most users only need to update the text and images.

However, if you want to make small layout adjustments, you can move and resize elements by selecting them and dragging them into place.

Important Tip To Remember – You cannot “break” your design! #

If you ever feel like you’ve made too many changes or want to start over, simply click your original Canva template link again. Canva will create a brand new copy of the design so you can start fresh.
