How to Replace Images in Frames #

Marlow Maison templates are designed to be ready to use with very little editing required. The layouts, spacing, and styling have already been carefully created so the design works beautifully as it is.

In many cases, you can simply replace the sample text and begin using the design right away. However, if your template includes image areas, you may want to replace the example images with your own photos or graphics.

Please note that some elements in certain designs may not be editable. If an element cannot be changed, this will be explained in the companion PDF included with your purchase.

If you need something changed that cannot be edited within the template, you can purchase a Style Change Ticket or a Revision Ticket to have that adjustment made for you.

This guide will show you how to replace images inside frames in your Canva template.

What Is a Frame? #

In Canva, a frame is a placeholder that holds an image.

Frames are often used to keep photos neatly aligned inside a layout. When you place an image inside a frame, Canva automatically crops the image to fit the shape of that frame.

Frames can appear as:

  • squares
  • rectangles
  • circles
  • custom shapes

You can easily swap the image inside the frame without changing the rest of the layout.

Step 1: Upload Your Image #

First, upload the image you want to use.

  1. In the left sidebar, click Uploads.
  2. Click Upload Files.
  3. Select the image from your computer.

Your image will appear in the uploads panel once it finishes uploading.

Step 2: Drag the Image Into the Frame #

Now locate the frame in your design.

To replace the image:

  1. Click and drag your uploaded image from the uploads panel.
  2. Move it over the frame in your design.
  3. When the frame highlights, release the image.

The new image will automatically replace the one currently inside the frame.

Step 3: Adjust the Image Position #

After placing the image, you may want to reposition it inside the frame.

To do this:

  1. Double-click the image inside the frame.
  2. You can now drag the image to reposition it.
  3. Use the corner handles to zoom in or out slightly if needed.

This allows you to adjust how the image fits inside the frame.

Step 4: Replace the Image Again (If Needed) #

If you decide to try a different image, you can repeat the same process.

Simply drag a new image over the frame and Canva will replace the existing one.

This makes it easy to experiment with different photos.

Important Beginners Tip #

If you accidentally place an image next to the frame instead of inside it, simply drag the image directly onto the frame until it snaps into place.

You can always try again until the image drops into the frame correctly.

The Most Important Thing to Remember #

Frames are designed to make it easy to replace images while keeping the layout intact.

Simply upload your image, drag it onto the frame, and adjust the position if needed.

And remember, Marlow Maison templates are designed to work beautifully with minimal editing, so you often only need to replace the images and text to make the design your own.

Important Tip To Remember – You cannot “break” your design! #

If you ever feel like you’ve made too many changes or want to start over, simply click your original Canva template link again. Canva will create a brand new copy of the design so you can start fresh.
