Shop Sections (Categories) #
Now that you have listings in your shop, it’s time to organize them.
Shop sections (also called categories) help your customers:
- Find what they’re looking for faster
- Browse your shop more easily
- Understand what you offer at a glance
Even if you only have a few listings now, setting this up early makes your shop feel much more professional.
What Are Shop Sections? #
Shop sections are like folders for your products.
Instead of all your listings being in one long row, you can group them into categories like:
- Logos
- Branding Kits
- Social Media Templates
- Website Templates
👉 This makes your shop easier to navigate.
Where to Create Shop Sections #
Let’s get you there:
- Go to Etsy
- Click Shop Manager
- Click Listings
- Look for “Sections” (usually on the right side)
- Click “Add Section”
👉 This is where you create and manage your categories.
How to Create a Section #
Once you click “Add Section”:
- Type your section name
- Click Save
That’s it — your section is created.
How to Add Listings to a Section #
After creating your sections:
- Go to your listings
- Click on a listing to edit it
- Find the “Section” dropdown
- Select the section you want
- Save your listing
👉 You can also bulk edit listings to save time.
What Sections Should You Create? #
Keep it simple, especially in the beginning.
Good examples: #
- Logos
- Branding Kits
- Templates
- Social Media
- Website
If you’re just starting: #
Even 2–3 sections is enough.
👉 You can always add more later.
Beginner Tips for Naming Sections #
- Keep names short and clear
- Use words your customers understand
- Avoid being too creative or vague
Example: #
Instead of:
“Creative Assets”
Use:
“Branding Kits”
👉 Clarity always wins.
Common Beginner Mistakes to Avoid #
1. Not using sections at all #
Everything ends up cluttered.
2. Creating too many sections #
This can be just as confusing as none.
3. Using unclear names #
If customers don’t understand it, they won’t click it.
4. Not assigning listings #
Creating sections without using them does nothing.
Quick Checklist #
Before moving on:
✔ At least 2–3 sections created
✔ Section names are clear
✔ Listings assigned to sections
✔ Shop feels more organized
